The International Format Group has announced the awfully named Gamerz, a reality show that will see thousands of players try to get a slot on the organisation’s CS:GO team.
Thousands of CS:GO players will be given the opportunity to take part, and anyone can sign up, either on the website or by heading to the Gamerz booth at DreamHack Winter in Jönköping next week. Of those thousands of players only 12 will be invited to the next round.
The 12 finalists will move into a state of the art gaming facility and this is where the 24/7 live stream will begin. Over the course of a month the twelve players will compete in elimination challenges and live matches every night, which will of course all be streamed.
Finally the five winners at the end of the month will be offered a GAMERZ contract, and the title of ‘professional eSport player’.
"Given the great interest it is particularly gratifying that we have created a unique opportunity for all the talents out there who want to become eSports professionals,” said Fredrik Ivansson, CEO of International Format Group. “We start in Sweden but the ambition is bigger than that – the next step is to launch globally.”
“We have created a completely new entertainment program that will take eSports seriously – GAMERZ,” said Robert Jönsson, Creative Director at IFG. “The goal is to create a new pro team from scratch in collaboration with known profiles and partners. Casting starts at the upcoming DreamHack Winter in Jönköping where we will provide all the undiscovered talent the chance to achieve the dream of becoming eSport professionals full time.”
