Reloaded Games ‘finalising’ merger with K2

Having completed a round of financing, MMO developer Reloaded Games is in the process of completing a merger with MMO publisher K2.

K2 specialises in bringing titles that have enjoyed success in Asia to the Western market. It runs publishing portal GamersFirst.com. It also owns the trademark for the term ‘free2play’.

The K2 Network name will be retired, with the new business being known as Reloaded Games. K2 CEO Bjorn Book-Larsson will be the new company’s CEO with Frank Cartwright becoming COO and Rahul Sandil the new CMO.

This merger represents the beginning of a new era for the company,” Book-Larsson stated.

As we evolve our two core businesses; Reloaded Productions will continue developing and producing quality original free2play content based on the Unity3D and Unreal 3 engines, while Reloaded Games will further expand the amazing platform that powers www.GamersFirst.com.

Later this Quarter we will make further announcements about the future of the publishing platform targeting independent game developers.”

Howard Brand, MD of Cascade Finance Partners – the driving financial force behind the deal – added: We think we have found one of the most driven, experienced and passionate management teams in the online game space and we look forward to further innovations from a team that has proven amazingly resilient through the enormous changes rocking the game industry today.

We believe there are terrific synergies and untapped opportunities between our gaming and entertainment properties such as GameWorks, and Reloaded which will transcend traditional online and offline game experiences.”
