Reports claim Konami’s Fox Engine boss has left

Konami’s worldwide technology director Julien Merceron has reportedly left the company.

Merceron oversaw Konami’s Fox Engine, which powers titles such as PES 2016 (out today) and the recent Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The claims first emerged on French site Gameblog but have since apparently been confirmed to IGN.

He joined the company in 2013, having previously worked at various post around Square Enix. No official reason has been given for the departure.

Of course, speculation will turn both to the disruptions that are believed to have engulfed Metal Gear’s Kojima Productions team. There have also been noises about Konami shifting resources from console to mobile development, although the company has attempted to downplay these.
