Retail backs Medal of Honor

Though most UK retailers are staying tight-lipped about Medal of Honor, UK online indie ShopTo.net has told MCV that it still intends to sell the game.

ShopTo fully supports and commends the bravery of the British Soldiers fighting in all conflict areas, including Afghanistan and would never condone anything that disrespected the daily sacrifices they provide to the British people,” PR and marketing manager Phil Driver told MCV.

As a retailer ShopTo.net follows all official government policy regarding the sale of video games. In the case of of Medal of Honor no other government decision has been made other than its PEGI classification of 18, which we have on the game. Should a ban be introduced based on a government decision we will of course stop the selling the game.

Whilst we are aware that Defence Secretary Fox has a grievance that we understand, we have received no other similar feedback from our customers. The Medal Of Honor series is exceptionally popular amongst gamers and as stated in a response by EA, which we agree with, has always had teams of opposing forces in its content.”

MCV has been assured that at least two of the UK’s leading video games retailers still intend to sell the game upon its release on October 15th.

UPDATE: Indie retailer Grainger Games has confirmed to MCV that it too will be stocking the game.

"As a responsible retailer we abide by the ratings system and so will be stocking this EA title as it has been approved and rated 18," sales director Phil Moore told MCV.

"On this specific title we appreciate the comments by ELSPA and also agree with the Culture Department itself in that the choice lies with the consumers to buy MOH or not. As a retailer we trust the ratings system to help guide our customers to make sensible, informed and personal choices about their gaming purchases."
