Revenue and income fall at Activision

Activision Blizzard has reported its financial results for the first quarter of its fiscal 2012.

The company’s total net revenue was $1.17bn for the period ending on March 31, 2012; a 23 per cent drop over the same period in 2011 ($1.44bn).

Net income was down year over year as well, with Acti-Blizz reporting $384m for Q1 2012 as compared to $503m in the same period the year prior.

Activision itself was responsible for $271m (23 per cent ) of segment net revenues, down compared to the $323m reported in Q1 2011. Blizzard accounted for $251m (21 per cent) of segmented net revenues, down from $357m last year.

Activision Blizzard expects to report a non-GAAP Q2 net revenue of $805m due to Diablo 3, Prototype 2, and The Amazing Spider Man.

As for 2012 in general the company projects $4.2bn in net revenue, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and World of Warcraft’s Mists of Pandaria expansion slated in the period to likely assist hitting the figure.
