EA boss John Riccitiello has admitted that the firm’s plan to cut its new boxed product release slate will mean fewer employees are necessary in its publishing offices.
His comments come after EA announced a round of 1,500 job cuts following its Q2 results last month.
500 of those are due to come in the firm’s publishing teams, with 900 in development. The redundancies are expected to be completed by March 31st next year, and will save the company around $100 million.
Riccitiello said the firm’s cost-cutting strategy was an offensive, positive step towards the evolution of our business."
