Rocket League climbs to 5m downloads

Rocket League has hit 5m downloads in only a matter of weeks, developer Psyonix has announced.

Polygon reports on the milestone, which is made up by the combination of PC and PS4 purchases with PS Plus downloads.

According to the studio, the figure doubles the lifetime downloads of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars – Rocket League’s predecessor.

"In comparison to the original Battle-Cars, Rocket League has had more than double the lifetime downloads in its first three weeks," Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham said. "It’s a much stronger response than we ever imagined, and the studio is ecstatic about it."

The ‘soccer meets driving’ game launched July 7th for $19.99 on PSN and Steam, and has sat atop of Steam’s top ten chart over the past few weeks.
