Rooster Teeth opens London office

Video game media company Rooster Teeth has opened an office in London as it seeks to expand its reach into the UK and Europe.

The media company is known best for its Youtube channels, encompassing personality led videos. The company has 45m subscribers across all of its YouTube channels, which encompass a variety of personality led broadcasting but Rooster Teeth are perhaps best known for their work with machinima, becoming one of the pioneers in the space after the company launched in 2003 with the comedy series Red vs. Blue. Red vs. Blue was entirely set within the game of Halo, with footage taken from that game.

Rooster Teeth London is being headed up by Eric Cherry, who joined Rooster Teeth in 2008. Rooster Teeth’s co-founder and current CEO Matt Hullum has stated that the UK could be a "proving ground" for the company to test out their approaches to expanding to other expansion efforts, in an interview with Variety.

"Building communities is a goal and we’ve done a good job in the U.K., but know we could do more," Hullum said. "The talent and community piece in the U.K. has been underserved and we wanted to correct that."

This isn’t Rooster Teeth’s first push into London. RTX, a conference organised by the company, was attended by 15,000 fans in October last year.
