Rovio promises ‘best in class’ toys and game for Angry Birds: Star Wars II

The physical toys that tie-in with Angry Birds: Star Wars II will be ‘best in class,’ says Rovio.

The firm promises to create high quality products that match that of the upcoming iOS and Android game, the developer says.

And when pressed which retailers would stock these toys, Rovio simply said ‘everywhere’.

"We want our fans to have the best in class digital and physical Angry Birds experiences," Rovio’s VP of marketing Philip Hickey told MCV.

"Our fans loved the toy line and loved the game. Why not make them play nicely together?

"The original Angry Birds Star Wars was a massive success with more than 100 million downloads and counting, plus incredibly good critical reviews and fan feedback.

"We will be working very closely with Hasbro and Lucasfilm and you can look for Telepods wherever toys are sold."

The original Angry Birds: Star Wars is coming to consoles and retail this Christmas via Activision – a company that launched the toys to life genre with Skylanders. Could we see a console version of its sequel?

Hickery added: "Currently, we are focusing on Angry Birds Star Wars II for mobile and tablet. Stay tuned."
