Sega reports significant dip in quarterly sales

Publish date:

Sega has reported negative financial results for its most recent quarter, though the firm's games division had little to do with the poor performance.

Sega Sammy Holdings posted a $63.8m loss overall, down 41.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The company's 'pachislot and pachinko' division – which manufactures gambling machines for the domestic Japanese market – saw the steepest decline in sales to the tune of a $54m loss.

However,Sega's 'entertainment contents' sector (includes console, mobile and arcade games) actually narrowed its losses year-on-year. The three month period didn't include any significant arcade or console releases, but did have strong launches for free-to-play mobile titles Hortensia Saga and Monster Gear.
