Sociable Soccer Kickstarter cancelled

Developer Jon Hare has announced that the crowdfunding effort for Sensible Soccer spiritual successor Sociable Soccer has been axed.

Hare launched a Kickstarter for the game on November 12th with a goal of 300,000. But following a slow start that saw the game make 32,498 from 1,767 backers, Hare opted to ditch crowdfunding effort.

But development is still continuing. The title’s Kickstarter page says ‘Sociable Soccer is still happening and will come out in due course through traditional publishing channels’.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Hare said that though the title had generated ‘great press buzz’ it seemed the game wasn’t ‘persuading enough readers from press articles to click on the link to view the Kickstarter page in the first place’.

Sociable Soccer is set for a 2016 release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
