SOE is closing four MMOs, including Free Realms

Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed the planned closure of four of its massively multiplayer online titles.

Kotaku reports that Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and Wizardry Online all face the chop so the company can focus its resources elsewhere.

Free Realms, once a poster child for a new free to play future on PC and PS3, will close on March 31st having reached a point in its life cycle where players are moving on to other games” (which presumably as no-one’s playing it any more”), SOE senior director of global communications Michele Cagle stated.

Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures will shut down on the same day.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, from the creators of EverQuest, will close on July 31st due to decreasing player population and the increasing cost of updating the game”.

That day will also see the closure of relatively recent release Wizardry Online.
