Sony is hiring new members for an anti-piracy team following a spate of PS3 hacking and security breaches.
SCEA placed job listings on its recruitment page – which have now been removed – reports IGN. These were for a senior corporate counsel and senior paralegal to develop and implement an anti-piracy and brand protection program”.
The news comes as Sony’s court dispute with PS3 hacker George ‘GeoHot’ Hotz continues. Earlier this year hackers breached the PS3’s security and uploaded its ‘root key’ to the internet, allowing players to modify the console and play pirated games.
In a job ad Sony said it will require the new staff to: Collaborate with other anti-piracy organisations, including those of affiliated Sony Computer Entertainment companies, Sony Corporation and the video game industry’s trade association, the Entertainment Software Association.”
Last week Sony issued a statement saying it will permanently ban anyone from PSN who is found using a USB device to bypass the PS3’s security.
