South African PS3 jailbreaker arrested

An unnamed man in Johannesburg, South Africa, has become the first to be raided in relation to crimes of console copyright circumvention.

GamePolitics reports that the individual was arrested on charges of jailbreaking PS3 consoles.

The South African Police Service’s Commercial Crime Unit acted following complaints received from the South African Federation Against Copyright Theft.

Goods with the value of around $15k were confiscated including computers, jailbreaking USB devices, hard drives and PS3 consoles, as well as fake games for both PS3 and PS2.
