Special edition Xbox One X ties in with Solo: A Star Wars Story - MCV
And definitely isn’t a dig at Sony’s lack of 4K UHD support on PS4, ahem

Xbox is hammering home the fact its consoles can play 4K UHD Blu-rays by bringing a special edition machine to tie in with the home release of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The console is an Xbox One X, which you can see above and below, decked out in the logo, some vaguely garish colours, and a little spaceship that we’re going to assume is the Millennium Falcon and not the Ebon Hawk. There’s some Star Wars gaming knowledge thrown in for you.

Now we’re not going to say this is a dig at Sony directly, but you won’t be seeing the PlayStation getting any super-duper special editions to tie in with the 4K UHD Blu-ray releases of any movies, even ones under the Sony banner. This is of course owing to the fact the PS4 and PS4 Pro do not play the higher-res Blu-rays; something of a point of contention for many around the globe. It’s honestly still difficult to fathom why Xbox, the company that doesn’t have a major movie company under its umbrella, would support a specific form of home media focusing on film, while the company with the major movie company does not. Ah well, it’s a boggle for another day.

For today, which definitely isn’t a slow news day, we can instead focus on the Solo Xbox One X and Microsoft’s tie in with LucasFilm, which is being given away in a Solo Sweepstakes until September 30. The movie itself releases tomorrow (September 14) digitally on the Xbox Store, and arrives September 25 on physical home media.

The Solo Sweeps can be found over on its official site, though it is only open to US and Canadian residents – aside from those in Quebec, who are treated the same as we Brits, apparently.
