Steam Broadcasting video streaming is now live

Steam users are now able to watch their friends play games thanks to the latest Steam Client update.

To use a feature simply head over to your friends list and bring up the drop-down menu next to anyone in-game. A ‘Watch Game’ option will then appear. The user in question will be asked for permission for you to view.

The update also brings with it Steam’s optional in-game framerate counter and a host of other bug fixes, such as the error that causes web views to localise incorrectly.

What isn’t yet possible is the streaming of Steam gameplay via Twitch, although PC owners have a myriad of options via which to do this, such as Nvidia’s Shadowplay software that is integrated into its graphics card suite.
