Steam’s video library expands to include software tutorial videos

Valve has introduced a series of software tutorial videos to Steam’s library.

The tutorials were created by community members of the various software offerings. The first batch includes nine videos covering instruction for asset creation in Blender, introduction to 3D prop modeling and design, texturing a sci-fi gun in Substance Painter, and more.

I’m very excited to have my tutorials on Steam, and I think it’s a great way to reach the creative community," tutorial maker Tor Frick – credited for putting three of the new guides together – said.

"Substance Painter is a tool made for the creators out there. We are truly humbled by the overwhelming feedback we got from the community, and are thrilled to see high quality tutorials released by our power users," CEO and founder of Substance Painter studio Allegorithmic Sebastien Deguy added.

Valve launched its own software line for purchase on Steam in October 2012, opening up Steam Greenlight to submissions from third-party software developers later that month.
