The lead designer behind BioWare's MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic has quit the studio.
Revealing the news on twitter, Daniel Erickson appeared to hit out and those in the industry who believe social, mobile and free-to-play was the future for many titles.
No reason was given for his departure.
As part of leaving BioWare I'm officially starting a twitter account for job hunt and design thoughts,” he said.
When 90% of the industry is saying the exact same thing (social, mobile, FTP!) a huge number of people are going to lose that race.”
Erickson joined BioWare in 2005 from EA Canada, where he worked on titles such as Dragon Age and later The Old Republic, on which he was credited as the lead writer.
The departure of the SWTOR lead designer comes shortly after BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk also left the studio.
