Tamagotchi Classic for Apple Watch tops iPhone App Store charts

The resurrection of ‘90s virtual pet simulator Tamagotchi in the form of an app for Apple Watch has seen it shoot to number one in the paid App Store charts.

Bandai Namco originally reintroduced the Japanese toy craze to iOS back in 2013.

Last week, however, saw the mobile reincarnation make the transition to the Apple Watch, resulting in its dethroning of Minecraft from the top spot in the paid iPhone charts.

Meanwhile, fellow Apple Watch title Spy Watch from Bossa Studios slipped three places to sixth position.

A ‘May the Fourth’ Star Wars sales promotion saw the iPad edition of beloved RPG Knights of the Old Republic climb back up the rankings, re-entering the Top Ten at number five.
