Target makes up for PS4 pre-order fumble

Having told many gamers earlier this week that their PS4 pre-orders had been cancelled, Target has now made amends.

MCV reported on Monday that Target had told customers who had pre-ordered either the DriveClub or Watch Dogs PS4 bundles that they were no longer guaranteed their consoles. However, the retailer has now backtracked.

The release date for the video games Watch Dogs, Drive Club, The Order: 1886 and inFamous: Second Son has been delayed,” it said in a statement to Kotaku. As a result, Target cancelled pre-orders for Sony PlayStation 4 consoles that were going to be bundled with these titles.

We sincerely apologise to guests who were inconvenienced and are working directly with them to ensure they receive the console they selected by their original order date. There was no impact to Sony PlayStation 4 pre-orders that were sold independently or bundled with other game titles.”

Of course, neither inFamous or The Order have actually been delayed as they were never said to be launch games – it seems however that Target still apparently offered both as part of PS4 launch bundles at some point.

In emails to customers Target has also offered a $100 Target eGiftCard as an additional apology, confirming that all original hardware orders will be honoured.
