The Hut tops Sunday Times tech list

Blossoming online retailer The Hut has emerged the victor in The Sunday Times’ Tech Track 100, a comprehensive listing of the one hundred fasted growing British tech firms.

It’s The Hut’s third consecutive year in the listings, but its 189 per cent growth in the last year saw it this time climb from 8th last year to first this time out.

The Hut Group’s CEO Matthew Moulding added: To be ranked number one is a incredible achievement. Given the tough economic climate, the huge growth and subsequent listing in the Tech Track is especially rewarding and we’re thrilled we have been able to buck the downward trend.

The recent raft of management appointments within the senior team means we are well on the way to deliver our ambitious target of 90m turnover in 2009 and driving the business to the next stage in its exciting journey.”

As well as running its own retail sites at thehut.com and zavvi.co.uk, The Hut provides ecommerce services for the likes of Asda, Argos, Lovefilm and WH Smith.

Other games-related companies in the listing include online rental firm Lovefilm.com (9th), games developer Jagex (22nd), website host Gamesys (32nd), skill gaming operator King.com (47th).
