Titanfall’s single or multiformat future is already being negotiated

EA’s CFO and executive VP Blake Jorgensen has said that his team is already negotiating the future of the Titanfall franchise.

In June EA described the decision to make Titanfall a timed Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC (read: not PlayStation) exclusive as a tactical opportunity”.

It then transpired last month that EA had extended to deal to make the game a lifetime exclusive.

But all current agreements just cover the first Titanfall. Respawn’s Vince Zampella has made it quite clear that he’d like future Titanfall games to be multiplatform, but that’s an EA decision – and one it’s making right now.

It’s the first title that’s committed to a single platform,” Jorgensen told investors, as reported by Seeking Alpha. That’s a process that’s been done through the industry for many years, there is a lots of single platform titles. Obviously, you work with the first parties to make sure the economics make sense for all sizes and we made that decision on Titanfall.

I’m sure that there will be future Titanfalls at some point that maybe [appear] on multiple product platforms – [I] don’t know, that’s up to the teams that are going through that now. But at the end of the day, we’re excited about this Titanfall and we think it will be a big title and it will be great for Xbox One.”
