Rest easy – The Last Guardian has not been abandoned by Sony.

Fans of the long-delayed PS3 adventure were sent into panic last night when SCEA boss Jack Tretton told Gametrailers, as reported by The Sixth Axis, that the game was in trouble.

"The cool thing about our worldwide development studio is we have so many projects from so many teams,” he stated. Projects never ultimately go away. So The Last Guardian is certainly not going away but it is on hiatus right now."

However, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida moved quickly to calm the fears.

"That hiatus term – I'm not a native English-speaking person—but that's misleading," he told Kotaku. "The game is in active development. [Lead designer Fumito] Ueda-san shared updates a few months ago. Nothing has changed.

My answer is, 'Yes, the game is in active development.' It's not hiatus at all. But we are not ready to reintroduce it. When we are ready, we will do that. Please wait."
