Newcastle is the host of a new Ubisoft office, which opens today.

Called the Consumer Relationship Centre, the department currently houses 75 workers and will by the end of 2015 employ over 100. The plan is to expand that to 200 in the future.

The office, which will integrate consumer support teams and community managers, will be a hub for Ubisoft's interactions with players in Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) territories”.

It will run seven days a week and handle phone calls, emails and forums in 11 languages.

Opening the Consumer Relationship Centre is a key step in better knowing our players and providing them with comprehensive service and support,” Ubisoft's EMEA consumer relationship director Stphane Catherine said.

Ubisoft is embracing the ‘games as a service' model, and having both the community managers and support teams working together to keep our communities continuously engaged and happy with their favourite brands and games is the goal.”

The UK Minister for the digital economy Ed Vaizey added: This is tremendous news for Newcastle and the UK and Ubisoft's long-term plans are testament to the wealth of talent in the North East in particular. Government and industry are working together to make the UK the best place in the world for video game production, and this investment provides a welcome boost in realising this ambition."

Newcastle is also home to Ubisoft Reflections. The CRC brings the publisher's total UK headcount to nearly 400.
