UPDATE: Watch Dogs confirmed for May 27th

A now deleted tweet from retailer GAME has quite possibly confirmed the release date for Watch Dogs.

Videogamer has spotted a swiftly removed tweet from GAME’s Eastleigh branch saying that the game will be released on May 27th.

With Ubisoft having already confirmed a delay for the Wii U version, it’s likely that this date applies to the game on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and possibly PC – although it’s not unknown for Ubisoft’s PC releases to arrive slightly after console.

Mounting evidence gathered earlier this week pointing towards an imminent Watch Dogs related announcement.

It’s the second time in a week that GAME has seemingly mistakenly revealed news ahead of time.

UPDATE 1:Videogamer has also dug up a story trailer for the game, confirming the May 27th date.

UPDATE 3: And here’s your official comfirmation:

We are pleased to be able to reveal to gamers all over the world the new release date for Watch Dogs,” Ubisoft’s EMEA senior VP of sales and marketing Geoffroy Sardin said. We are extremely confident that the additional time we afforded the dev team to refine and polish the game will be more than worth the wait.”

SCEE’s VP of third party relations Michael Pattison added: We’re really excited for the launch of Watch Dogs on both PS3 and PS4 and are confident that it will prove to be one of the standout games of 2014.

It’s a unique and visionary game and we believe that the exclusive content available via PSN will not only excite gamers, but showcase how PlayStation is a preferred destination for Watch Dogs.”

UPDATE 4: The May 27th applies to the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions, with 60 minutes of additional gameplay available to download on PS4 and PS3. The Wii U version will arrive "at a later date".
