UPDATED: Apple officially reveals 128GB iPad

A 128GB version of the iPad 4 has been officially announced by Apple.

It’s a rare example of Apple rumours proving correct, with claims of just such a model doing the rounds this last weekend.

Interestingly, Apple chose not to unveil the SKU at an event or as part of a new product launch. Instead, the new model should be available to purchase next week, with a US date of February 5th confirmed.

The new model will come in both black and white and retail for $799 (wi-fi) and $929 (4G).

With more than 120m iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” Apple’s senior VP of worldwide marketing Philip Schiller stated.

With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”

UPDATED: The UK prices have now been confirmed. The wi-fi model will retail for 639 and the 4G model for 739.
