UPDATED: Final Fantasy VII on PC released by mistake, quickly pulled

The PC re-release of Final Fantasy VII was made available for purchase and subsequently pulled this weekend.

Early reports suggested it was because of DRM woes, but MCV has been told it had been made live by mistake, hence being pulled.

The game ran for $12.70 for a short period of time before the listing reverted back to ‘coming soon’ status, Joystiq reports.

Those who had a chance to purchase the title quickly discovered they couldn’t access any content, thanks to the game’s SecuROM DRM failing to authenticate. That was because the game should not have been made available.
