US Amazon Prime members can now get video game discounts

Fast delivery, video streaming – and now there’s another reason for Amazon customers to sign up to the expensive Prime membership scheme.

Destructoid reports that Amazon has begun offering Prime-exclusive discounts on a number of products, including video games. Qualifying items carry the message: "Members of Amazon Prime qualify for a lower price on this item when shipped and sold by Amazon."

Discounts are applied after the item has been added to a user’s cart. It’s not just back-catalogue stuff, either – some recent release and even pre-orders are included.

The fact that the discounts have not yet been widely advertised on the site could mean they are temporary, or perhaps are a test ahead of a wider rollout.

As an aside, Amazon has also just tolled out one hour delivery for Prime customers in some London postcodes.
