US digital revenue up in November thanks to Black Friday

November digital games sales surpassed $1bn in November, according to new research from Superdata.

Games Industry reports the total for the period is a year-on-year increase of 23 per cent, and Superdata points to a spike in digital deals during Black Monday and Cyber Monday as a major driving force.

Digital mobile revenue for November reached $355m, while digital console sales brought in $111m. The research firm stated both figures were boosted by substantial discounts on corresponding hardware at retail.

The other $534m was split between digital revenue from PC games, social gaming, free-to-play MMOs and premium MMOs.

Superdata's report also mentioned that console DLC sales were up 30 per cent to $64m for the month, adding that average spending on PC DLC doubled specifically on Black Friday.
