US: THQ*ICE ceases operations

US online publisher THQ*ICE has closed.

The firm was a collaboration between THQ and Shanghai-based I.C.E Entertainment to handle MMO Dragonica Online. It was formed in September 2008.

According to Gamasutra, THQ sold its interest back to ICE in March 2010, and now ICE has ended its US operations entirely.

A statement on the Dragonica Online website reads:
The service of Dragonica is being transitioned to another game publisher. Our team is currently working with the new publisher and with game developer Barunson Interactive for the service transition, so you may join Gatto, Amy, and all the other townspeople and villains at their new home.”

The games publishing will now be handled by Gravity Interactive.

ICE was purchased by Chinese games firm ChangYou earlier this year.
