FIFA 14 should offer the most realistic ball striking system ever seen in a football game, according to EA.
It achieves this via two new systems – Pure Shot and Real Ball.
Pure Shot sees individual players adjust their stance as they approach the goal so they are positioned to strike it to the best of their ability. So for instance, Rickie Lambert will no longer be forced to try and curl a strike with the outside of his left – instead he will angle his bulky scouse frame so his lethal right is ready to slot it home.
This doesn't mean that things will be perfect every time, however. Factors such as the delivery of the ball to the player and their momentum at the time will dictate their ability to get in position.
Real Ball sees the ball itself behave in a more believable manner. This should allow for more curl and dip when shooting – meaning Rickie's left foot curler will still likely hit the top corner.
The video below shows EA mo-capping future Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale knuckle-shotting it into the net.
