Pro-G Media - the publisher and owner of VideoGamer.com - has been acquired by Swedish company IBIBI HB.

As part of the deal, the firm has formed a new technology-focused games network called Candy Banana. The network of websites will include VideoGamer.com, Planet Destiny, The Sims Resource, Game Debate, VideoGamer Portugal and Sportra.

The firm says it will launch a ‘cutting-edge publishing platform' by developing a whole new VideoGamer.com.

This deal is wonderful news for fans of VideoGamer as the site and content will only get better, but this is only the beginning. Built from scratch, our powerful new platform will allow us to quickly roll out new community led features and content incrementally across the network.” said former Pro-G MD and current director at Candy Banana Adam McCann.

It's an exciting time to be in online media with a number of significant shifts going on, and with a strategy that puts community and technology at the core, I think we're very well positioned for growth.”

IBIBI HB's Thomas Isaksson added: We're delighted to join forces with Adam, Tom, James and the team. With great sites, content, and community, I believe we have a formidable network that's only going to get better and better.”

The company says the Candy Banana websites reach a combined audience of 7m unique users and 116m page impressions.
