Warner Bros is having a great year thanks to a strong performance from its interactive entertainment division, parent company Time Warner has announced.
The company mentioned its game division’s stellar performance on multiple occasions throughout its third quarter report. Revenue for Warner Bros division – which includes both games and television products – was up 15 per cent to $3.2bn for the period, while operating profits were up 62 per cent to $148m.
The positive results were attributed to the launch of Mad Max and Lego Dimensions during the quarter, as well as solid performances by television shows Supergirl and Blindspot. Mortal Kombat X and Batman: Arkham Knight – despite its technical difficulties on PC – also continue to move copies.
"Our revenue growth was led by Warner Bros. and Home Box Office, and illustrated how our investments in great content have been paying off in our traditional television businesses, as well as in newer areas such as videogames," Time Warner chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes said.
Time Warner itself saw revenue up 5 per cent to $6.6bn, along with a net income increase of 7 per cent to $1.04bn.
