Who is gamings next video star?

A far-reaching search for new video and writing talent is about to begin.

IGN’s newest recruitment drive will kick off next month a special competition designed to find undiscovered personalities that will boost its UK team.

Most notably, the company is looking for headline presenters – both male and female – to be the UK face of video content on IGN, akin to the US team’s familiar screen icon Jessica Chobot.

IGN is also on the hunt for untapped writing talent, with new recruits presented the opportunity to provide editorial content for the company’s leading gaming site.

The aim of the campaign is to find entirely unknown writers and presenters that have yet to make their break in the games industry.

The competition will officially start in October and will run until spring next year. It will be open to any wannabe journalists around the UK.

Those applying for the editorial positions will be asked to submit articles to IGN. Presenter applicants will have to create and upload original videos that show off their talents. All entries will be judged by respected figures from around the games industry.

We’re constantly astounded by the number of witty and creative people out there in IGN’s community and beyond,” said IGN UK editor-in-chief Alex Simmons.

We want to give this untapped talent an opportunity to show the world what it can do and take the best of the best to showcase on IGN – the world’s biggest gaming and entertainment platform.”

IGN International’s vice president Ian Chambers added: Looking from the outside in, it can appear daunting to break into our industry.

There is so much potential out there and IGN’s new competition will give aspiring British writers and presenters the first step in turning their passion for entertainment into work. I can’t wait to see what people come up with.”
