Wii Sports Resort nears 7m

Recently released headline Wii title Wii Sports Resort has sold nearly 7m copies since its release in June, according to platform holder Nintendo.

As of last week the game had sold 6.97m units. Its predecessor, Wii Sports, has now passed the 50m global sales mark thanks to sales of 4.8m units in the last financial quarter.

A number of other leading Nintendo brands have also had their sales figures published. Wii Play has to date sold 24.4m copies, whilst Wii Fit (22.5m), Mario Kart Wii (18.4m) and the recently released Wii Fit Plus (2.13m) continue to impress.

On the DS front, New Super Mario Bros Wii remains the publisher’s best selling title on the twin-screened machine, having shifted 19.9m units.

Other performers include Mario kart DS (16.1m), Pokemon Platinum (6.4m) and Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box (1.26m).
