Xbox 360 has moved 70m units

Microsoft has announced lifetime sales for the Xbox 360 has hit 70m units.

The figure, reported by CVG and current as of September 30th, encompasses all units moved since the console’s launch in November 2005 – an average of around 10m units sold a year.

PS3 and Wii, which both launched in 2006, have sold 63.9m and 96.6m units respectively over their lifetime.

This past week Microsoft reported 1.7m units sold during Q1 of its fiscal year, with low operating income and high research and development costs pointing to a new console in the works from the company.
