Xbox 360 Minecraft slips to spring 2012

Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox Live Arcade version of indie hit Minecraft will not now be released until spring of next year.

Eurogamer reports that the game had originally been pencilled in for some time this winter.

Minecraft for Xbox 360 is currently in heavy development and we are very happy with the progress,” Carl Manneh wrote on the Minecraft blog.

We want to keep the core experience of the original PC version intact, while ensuring the game fits its new platform.

We are also excited that Microsoft joins us at MineCon as the main sponsor for the convention. Microsoft will participate in the preview of the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft and will also be showing off some cool stuff in the exhibition area of the event. It’s going to be a great celebration of everything Minecraft.”

Those hoping to try out the code first hand will get their first chance at the debut MineCon event in LA on November 18th.
