One of the key people behind the DDoS attacks on Xbox Live and PSN last December has escaped jail.

The Daily Dot reports that 17 year-old Julius ‘Zeekill' Kivimakihas received a two year suspended sentence from a Finnish court. He was found guilty of data breaches, felony payment fraud and telecommunication harassments, as well as an assortment of other frauds and corporate violations.

Kivimakihas pleaded guilty to 23 charges in May.

The breaches in question saw millions of PS4 and Xbox One owners unable to take their new consoles online last December.

Kivimakihas's hacking group Lizard Squad has celebrated the verdict online.

All the people that said we would rot in prison don't want to comprehend what we've been saying since the beginning, we have free passes,” it said on Twitter. And no zeekill will not be extradited. Finnish citizens have the right to refuse extradition regardless of any treaty.”
