Xbox One owners can connect existing cable and satellite boxes via HDMI pass-through

The impressive TV functionality demonstrated in tonight's Xbox One reveal will be available to everyone.

Previous TV integration with Xbox 360 was dependent on specific agreements with suppliers and was mostly limited to the US.

This is not the case with Xbox One. Instead, users will be able to attach the console to their Sky, Virgin, BT or Freeview box via an HDMI pass-through. The console will them simply display its output directly, although Xbox-specific functionality will be overlaid.

Some of the more technical features demoed, such as the NFL interactivity, will need to be handled directly through Xbox Live.
