Zattikka gains Monty Python licence

And now for something completely different – casual games studio Zattikka has acquired the licence to produce Monty Python titles.

The first game will arrive on Facebook before other Monty Python titles on mobile devices and websites.

A statement from Zattikka promised the game will be a homage to all the characters, settings, sketches and comedic approach that has made Monty Python a worldwide phenomenon.”

Zattikka CEO Tim Chaney added: Monty Python is one of the most iconic comedy licences around, but there has been no new material for over 20 years.

By acquiring these rights we will be transporting Monty Python into the 21st century, with a totally new experience for their unique comedy that will delight old and new fans alike. Forget ‘Web 2.0′ – this is Python two point one and three quarters.”

From the late ’60s to the early ‘80s several popular Monty Python TV shows and films were released including The Holy Grail and Life of Brian.

More details about the upcoming Facebook game will be revealed at a press event in December. The Monty Python team have been involved in the game’s development process – particularly Terry Gilliam who produced Python’s unique art style.

Earlier this month Zattikka announced a series of five games based on the Mr Bean IP.
