Bwin predicts that more bets will be placed on League of Legends than Champions League

Online betting company bwin has predicted that more bets will be placed on League of Legends in 2016 than on the winner of the UEFA Champions League.

Data that bwin has collected shows that if betting on League of Legends continues to grow at a similar rate, and that betting on the Champions League winner stays at a similar level compared to last year, then more bets will be placed on the former in 2016. However this stat is a little skewed as this includes all bets on League of Legends, while only including the overall winner market for the Champions League.

The data also reveals that 69% of all eSports bets on the site are on League of Legends, with CS:GO claiming 15%, Dota 2 10% and StarCraft II 6%. Interestingly it is Germany that has the most people betting on eSports on the site, with 41% of bwin’s eSports turnover coming from the country. Second is Austria who are responsible for 15% of eSports turnover with the Netherlands sitting just behind them in third with 13%, the UK sitis 7th with 2%.

Amazingly bwin also revealed that just 66 days of eSports betting in 2016 represents two thirds of the sites total eSports takings, which began back in June 2015.
