Capcom accused of hiding DLC on discs

12 characters due to be released as DLC on the console versions of Street Fighter X Tekken are already residing on owners’ discs, it has been claimed.

The upcoming PlayStation Vita version of the brawler is due to arrive with 12 additional characters not found on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. The said characters are due to become available for download at a later date.

Except Xbox360Achievements reports that the content is in fact already contained on the game disc, meaning that potential buyers aren’t paying to download new content at all – they’re simply playing for the privilege of accessing content they already own.

A YouTube user this weekend uploaded a number of videos showing the characters in action in the Xbox 360 version of the game, along with their intro movies and additional costumes.

All have since been removed from the site.

MCV has contacted Capcom and is expecting to receive an official response later today.

The situation is very similar to that faced by 2K Games in 2010 when it was discovered that DLC for BioShock 2 was already present on the game disc. The publisher defended itself by saying that the move was to ensure that players both with and without access to the DLC would still be able to compete with one another online.
