CD Projekt Red doubles in value to $2 billion

Following the recent publication of its earnings, CD Projekt Red is now worth around $2.3 billion. The figure is based on the current market valuation of the company which is 8.2 billion zloty in its native Poland.

CD Projekt Red’s earnings are based on the first half of the fiscal year for 2017, but amazingly profits have slowed. The company hit the $1billion mark this time last year which means it has almost doubled in value, but the company had a very strong 2016.

Following the release of The Witcher 3 and its two DLC additions, Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, the company posted a healthy performance previously and this continues to grow thanks to its Gog.com store. The new collectable card game Gwent, based on the game playable in The Witcher series, also falls under the Gog.com banner for the companies financials.

Highlights from this year include the continued development of Cyberpunk 2077, the next game from the developer, and further expansion of Gwent to other territories and potential esports usage. In April, according to the financials, the company opened up a subsidiary in China to help support a local team to publish and promote Gwent.
