CD Projekt Red licenses Havok Complete

Polish developer CD Projekt Red has licensed Havok’s tools for use with several of its future PS3, 360 and PC projects.

Part of the CD Projekt company, the team at Red are most well known for the creation of PC role-playing game The Witcher. The developer is set to make use of Havok’s Complete, which combines the Havok Physics engine and Havok Animation, the company’s integrated character animation system.

The pair of solutions are designed to be used in the creation of complex and dynamic character performance, and provide developers with a fully-optimised gameplay solution that can be integrated into existing internal architectures.

“We are thrilled that the innovative development teams at CD Projekt RED have chosen Havok Complete as the foundation for their upcoming titles,” said Havok’s managing director David O’Meara. “Havok-powered games generated over $1.5 billion in revenue in the US market alone over the past two years, demonstrating the company’s clear leadership position as the premier technology solutions provider to developers worldwide.”

“Integrating Havok Complete into our existing framework has allowed our teams to focus on upping the ante on incredible overall gameplay experience,” said Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt RED. “Havok’s incredible customer support and ability to tailor its products to meet our needs will help ensure our characters respond to complex physical worlds in as realistic a way as possible.”
