Clash of Clans generated the most UK mobile revenue in 2015

Research company App Annie has released its mobile market report for 2015.

The firm’s data shows that Supercell’s Clash of Clans generated the most games revenue on iOS and Google Play for the year, ahead of Candy Crush Saga from King and Game of War – Fire Age by Machine Zone.

But Clash of Clans did not have the highest number of active monthly users – that title – on both iOS and Android – goes to King’s Candy Crush Saga, indicating that though more people play King’s match-3 game, consumers are more inclined to spend money in Supercell’s strategy release.

Clash of Clans also helped Supercell become the game company that generated the most revenue. King comes in at No.2 in terms of games revenue off the back of Candy Crush Saga and Candy Crush Soda Saga. In terms of downloads, however, it was Electronic Arts that was the top publisher.

Supercell was saw the highest revenue in the entire world, with Clash of Clans generating the most money globally.

The most-downloaded game in the UK was Hipster Whale’s Crossy Road. That title is absent from the Revenue chart, but was had the third monthly active users number on iPhone, and the fourth-highest on Android.

The data firm’s report also says that games are maturing faster. In 2014, it would take 50 weeks for a new release to reach 90 per cent of its market potential; in the past twelve months, this has reduced drastically to just over 17 weeks.

This has resulted in publishers requiring more frequent releases, and needing higher visibility upon launch.
