Cloud gaming casts over UK as OnLive takes off

Cloud gaming group OnLive has expanded its operations from the US to Europe, today launching its innovative games console in the UK.

The OnLive microconsole, which streams game data from the cloud to TVs, has been priced at £69.99.

Game prices range from £1.99 to £39.99, according to VG247. Meanwhile, a ‘play pack’ – a compilation of more 100 games – will cost 6.99 per month to subscribe to.

The Microconsole package comes bundled with a controller, ethernet and HDMI cables.

The service is free to download on PC.

Retailers GAME and GameStation are backing the device with in-store presence. They also plan to integrate OnLive with their loyalty card schemes within both the GAME and Gamestation brands.

Telecoms giant BT has signed up as network partner, and has arranged a deal to waive fair usage limitations if OnLive customers during a pilot test period.

Special promotion deals allow new customers to buy their first game on the service for £1.
