Confirmed: New Skylanders is called Trap Team, costs £64.99

The next game in the Skylanders series is, as rumoured, Trap Team.

The game launches on October 10th for Wii, Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The starter pack will retail for 64.99 and comes with two figures, the game and two ‘traps’.

The ‘traps’ are the new innovation in the game. Once a boss is defeated, gamers can then ‘trap’ them in a special plastic accessory. Once trapped, these villains will speak from the portal (which yes, now boasts audio). Players can release the villains from the traps temporary into the game and control these characters. There are 40 baddies to ‘trap’ in total.

Activision believes this will help boost sales of Skylanders after lower-than-expected sales of Skylanders Swap Force.

The new game is developed by series creator Toys For Bob. It is backwards compatible with all former characters and features 50 new playable Skylanders, include the new Trap Masters toys.

The traps are of multiple different elements. Two traps come with the game, but others have to be bought seperately.
