The BBC is launching a new online Doctor Who game to encourage children to learn to code as part of its Make it Digital initiative.
In Doctor and the Dalek, the iconic British TV character, voiced by Peter Capaldi, will team up with a Dalek by using code to solve various puzzles.
The challenges are linked to the new computing curriculum that began at the start of the school year. The game will be based on several key stage 2 and 3 skills, such as combining instructions to accomplish a given goal, using variables to alter behaviour and logical reasoning.
“Every puzzle has a strong link to the KS2 or KS3 computing curriculum,” said BBC Learning head Sinéad Rocks.
“So we think it’s going to be a really valuable tool for students, parents and teachers.”
