Eidos Montreal’s new tech powering Human Revolution sequel for Xbox One, PS4 and PC

Dawn Engine’s first outing unveiled as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Square Enix has officially announced Eidos Montreal’s next project, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Following an interactive teaser that went live earlier this week, the new game has been revealed as the cover star of the next issue of Game Informer.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be the first title to use Eidos Montreal’s proprietary Dawn Engine, a new tool built on IO Interactive’s Glacier 2 technology. The studio has previous said the engine would be the ‘cornerstone’ of Deus Ex Universe – an umbrella term for the next wave of Deus Ex titles across multiple titles, the first of which will be Mankind Divided.

Demos for the Dawn Engine have even been built with a Deus Ex feel to them. We spoke to Eidos Montreal in depth about the new engine – and its role in the next Deus Ex title – earlier this year.

Mankind Divided follows on from the well-received Human Revolution, improving combat but retaining the level of player choice and strategy.

It is currently in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. No release date has been given, but it’s a safe bet this won’t arrive until 2016 at the earliest.
