Destiny content faces further Xbox One lockout

PlayStation-exclusive content that had been expected to arrive on Xbox One this autumn will now not hit the console until autumn 2017 at the earliest.

Polygon reports that a range of exclusive PlayStation content that arrived alongside last year’s Destiny: The Taken King had previously been marked down as being exclusive until ‘at least autumn 2016′.

New expansion Rise of Iron is due out in September, along with content that will remain PlayStation exclusive until ‘at least autumn 2017′. However, at some stage along the way the arrival date for the still MIA Taken King content on Xbox One has also been changed to ‘at least autumn 2017′.

This includes powerful exotic weapons, co-op strike missions, vehicles and multiplayer maps.

The move represents a change of sorts, as 2015’s release of Taken King did see the previous PlayStation content roll out on Xbox, a year after its initial release. The new dates have been confirmed accurate by Activision, although the timing of the change remains unclear.
